About This Item:
• The Flavian Amphitheatre: Also known as "The Colosseum," it is a giant amphitheatre built in Rome under Emperor Vespasian between 70 and 72 CE and dedicated in 80 CE by Titus.
• Historical location: Situated just east of the Palatine Hill on the grounds of Nero's Golden House, the amphitheatre replaced a private lake to create a public facility.
• Unique architectural design: Unlike earlier amphitheatres dug into hillsides, this one is freestanding, using a complex system of barrel vaults for support.
• Captivating puzzle image: The puzzle features a spring sunrise from the west, with flowering trees in bloom coloring the sky and adding reds and yellows to the usual blue.
• Uncommon perspective: The image offers a unique and uncommon view of the Colosseum, taken from the ground level and from the side, as if looking face to face at the iconic structure.
• Puzzle-solving strategy: The image likely forms around the amphitheatre, with the flowers of the trees on the bottom serving as a helpful starting point for sorting and piece placement.
